If you love horseback riding, or even if you’ve never done it before, Park City is the place to be. With a host of outfitters and stables, you have many opportunities to explore the Rocky Mountains on horseback. Wander through the forests of pine and aspen into the Uinta Mountain range, or alongside the Wasatch Mountains the way that our forefathers did, on the back of their trusted horse.

There is nothing like horseback riding as a way to see the incredible landscape around you. It almost transports you back in time, and you can almost imagine yourself as one of those rugged individuals who came to settle this territory. From the back of your horse, you can experience Park City the way it might have been more than a century ago. You can see a variety of alpine wildflowers, and a number of different wildlife while wandering the trail. Fox, moose, deer, and elk are often seen on the trail. If you’re lucky, you might even see a bobcat or mountain lion in the distance.

There are many outfitters and stables for you to choose from.

Rocky Mountain Outfitters offers cowboy style horseback rides. Those who love early mornings will be thrilled to hit the trail as the sun peeks over the mountains, for their Early morning sunrise ride. Or, if you’re a bit lazy and prefer to sleep in a bit, you might go for a 1 hour long Pony Express ride, or a 2 hour long Maverick Trail Ride.

Rocky Mountain Recreation of Utah offers horseback riding out of the Stillman Ranch. Rides here can be as little as 1 hour long to overnight rides of the Uinta Mountains.

Destination Sports and Park City Adventure Center also run out of the Stillman Ranch site. This ranch is 9000 acres of private land, near Coalville, Utah. Two hour trail rides and longer country rides are available.

North Forty Escapes has several quarter horses to take you on a horseback riding trip through Park City trails for one to four hours.

All Season Adventures offers Park City horseback riding trips that leave throughout the day. This company provides free transportation from your location in Park City as well as a meal for longer trips.

Daniels Summit Lodge is a great riding adventure for those with lots of riding experience. They open their horseback riding experiences at the beginning of June which run as weather permits, until the end of October. This is to ensure safety of riders as you explore the Uinta National Forest on horseback.

When it comes to the resorts, the Deer Valley Ski Resort and the Park City Mountain Resort both have horseback riding adventures. Deer Valley runs their horseback riding programs through the Boulder Mountain Ranch. They have Gallop and Canter Rides, Chuckwagon Rides, Horsedrawn stagecoach rides which lead you through the mixed forest of pine and aspen into the – alpine meadows.. Park City Mountain Resort also offers Park City horseback riding tours throughout their private mountain land.
